ALBAWABA - A new video circulating across social media of Syria's former president Bashar Assad reportedly fleeing the country to Moscow, Russia on board a plane went viral, as users on platforms like Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) expressed speculations about its authenticity.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Russia's President Vladimir Putin agreed to grant Bashar Assad and his family including his children and wife safety in Moscow, after the opposition army led by commander Abu Mohammed al-Golani took over Syria.
An analysis made by the fact-checking platform 'Misbar' claimed that the video being shared across social media is false and old, further confirming that it wasn't about Assad fleeing Damascus with his family to Moscow.

Moreover, the video was shared back in 2023 on YouTube, but many social media are recently spreading rumors claiming that it's Assad on the plane, resulting in anger and false speculations. According to screenshots shared by Al Araby, the video only managed to garner more than 2,000 views when posted back in 2023.
It only picked up traction when some users spread the rumor of Assad on board that plane.
On November 8, the Military Operations Department in Syria announced the fall of the regime of former President Bashar Assad after a revolution that broke out in 2011.
Moreover, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali called on all Syrians today to preserve the state's public property saying it belongs to all Syrians.
