ALBAWABA - An incident caused anger and sparked controversy on social media after three masked men poured a flammable liquid on Hatzolah ambulances and set them on fire in London, the United Kingdom.

Ambulances belonging to Hatzola Northwest organization, a Jewish volunteer rescue organization, were set on fire outside a synagogue in a neighborhood that hosts London's largest Jewish community early on Monday

According to CNN, the police in London are treating the incident as an antisemitic attack. The incident took place at 1:36 a.m. on Monday at the "Machzikei Hadath" area, which matches the name of the adjacent synagogue.

Residents of the northern suburb of Golders Green said they heard loud explosions after the ambulances caught fire. Dozens of firefighters rushed to the area to control the situation.

"The arson attack is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime," London's Met Police said in a statement.

The police also noted that they evacuated some residents as a precaution.
