ALBAWABA - CCTV footage obtained by ABC News recently flooded social media, capturing a pet tortoise miraculously escaping fire from its shed in California.
Reports state that the tortoise named Leo escaped when a heat lamp fell inside the shed, igniting the fire. Leo's mom wasn't home at the time, but her neighbors saw the fire and rushed to put it out.

A social media user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Accelerated to top speed. Stopped to look into the camera. Rescued her own damn self. Leo is clearly a strong independent turtle that doesn't need anybody, A SURVIVOR IF YOU WILL."
Another user wrote, "There's a reason why they live to 200."
While obtained by ABC News, the video was first shared by the pet owner, Hyeri Tom, who was at a Super Bowl party when the incident occurred. Tom shared the video, urging other reptile owners to check their pets' heat lamps often to prevent similar incidents.
