ALBAWABA - Football player Luis Diaz's parents were kidnapped in Colombia, with fears that his father might have been smuggled out of the country.

Rumors and speculations circulated online as fans of the Football star claimed that the gang who kidnapped Luis Diaz's father might be now in another country.

Earlier local media reports said that both of Luis Diaz's parents were kidnapped, however, his mother managed to return home safe, while the fate of his father is still a mystery.

In detail, Colombian media revealed that on Saturday armed men with motorcycles kidnapped Luis Manuel Diaz and Cilenis Marulanda from a gas station in Barrancas, near the border with Venezuela.

Colombia's attorney general said that Luis Diaz's father may have been taken to Venezuela by the kidnapping gang.

Francisco Barbosa added: "We have information that he could, at some point, be in Venezuela. If he ends up crossing the border and he's in Venezuela, we have to ask President Gustavo Petro ... to help us with freeing Luis Diaz's father."

Colombia's large-scale search for Luis Diaz's father involves over 200 police, soldiers, commando members, cartographers, judicial police and pilots of special search and rescue aircraft.

Luis Diaz, 26, plays as a left winger for Premier League club Liverpool and the Colombia national team.
