Companies in Oman will soon be required to provide health insurance for their employees, according to a statement released by Oman’s Capital Market Authority (CMA).

Four research agreements worth more than OMR300,000 have been signed in a bid to boost research and development collaborations between industries and the academe in the Sultanate.

Experts are calling for remittances to be invested in Oman, after new figures from the country’s leading financial authority revealed that OMR3.7 billion was sent home by expatriates in 2017.
According to the Article 118 of the Oman Labour Law, violators can be penalised with fines ranging from OMR100 to OMR500, or a jail term of not more than one month, or both. (Times of Oman)
