Highlights
Today’s launch of the commemorative stamp celebrates the 50th anniversary of Oman’s membership of the United Nations, which marked the start of Oman’s modern diplomatic journey.

Today’s launch of the commemorative stamp celebrates the 50th anniversary of Oman’s membership of the United Nations, which marked the start of Oman’s modern diplomatic journey. A journey guided by principles set by the architect of Oman’s modern renaissance, the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said – may his soul rest in peace – and are being carried forward by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik as His Majesty leads Oman in its renewed renaissance.

Oman is steeped in history for its role in building bridges of cooperation among world nations. The new stamp is our way at Oman Post and in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry to reflect on the Sultanate’s journey as a safe, stable, and modern country that has always worked tirelessly in pursuit of peace and intercultural dialogue worldwide. This stamp is a great source of pride for us, and we are confident that this timeless piece will be embedded in our nation’s proud history.

Joining the United Nations is an iconic moment in Oman’s formidable legacy. The Sultanate has come a long way in working to promote global peace, security and prosperity. It is our responsibility to continue to work with vigor and dedication to achieving the national goals and aspirations of the people of Oman.

The new stamp symbolizes the values and legacy of Oman, a beacon unto nations for centuries as Sultan Haitham bin Tarik – may God protect him upholds these values and champions, tolerance, human dignity, and peace among civilizations in the name of our great nation.

The stamp features the late H.H. Sayyid Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, delivering the Sultanate of Oman’s first speech on the occasion of its admission to the United Nations 50 years ago. That landmark moment marked the start of the Sultanate’s modern diplomatic journey as a nation of mutual respect, a nation of friendship, and nation of peace.

Today, we also curated a special Exhibition that serves as a platform to commemorate the remarkable life and legacy of the late His Highness Sayyid Tarik Al Said and his contributions to the progress of Oman over the years. In the coming days, the Exhibition will be moved to the Opera Galleria for the public to enjoy and capture these landmark moments in His Highness’s life and Oman’s rich history.
