Samsung Electronics Co. a global leader in consumer electronics, is once again launching into the world of sporting endorsement by partnering with entertainers and global football sensation Masters of the Game (MOTG) to host for the first time ever in the Middle East the Samsung MOTG Freestyle World Championship taking place from 3pm – 10pm, March 4th and 5th on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. The event is a full-on experience whereby sports and music are combined to entertain and promote young footballers and freestylers in the region.

The two-day event will welcome 16 of the world’s top “freestyle” footballers to the UAE as they show off their best tricks and skills to compete over the Freestyle Football World Champion title.  Throughout the day visitors can also enjoy live performances from sensations such as local rap duo Desert Heat and tunes from DJ Brooklyn and F3L, with lots of prizes adding to the excitement.

This year’s star-studded lineup includes legends such as Hee Young Woo (Mr. Woo) and John Farnworth who will be judging the freestyle world championship.  Local residents are also invited to take part in the action and become either the ultimate UAE Freestyler to compete in the world championship or partner up to compete in the 2 vs. 2 challenges.  The ultimate goal of the game is not just to win but to show how you can embarrass your opponents.  All are welcome to join the excitement and can register easily at www.samsungmotg.com.

“Our partnership with MOTG is another demonstration of Samsung’s commitment to local youth communities. By bringing freestyle football to the UAE, we are particularly thrilled to be supporting a mostly young audience that will hopefully feel inspired by the international talents that will be present at the event. Samsung has always viewed its involvement in the sporting world as a great opportunity to connect with consumers and give back to communities in a fun and engaging way,” said Mr. Young Soo Kim, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics.

This year’s Samsung MOTG Freestyle World Championship is the first of its kind in the region, having previously been held in locations such as Amsterdam, Netherlands, with regular tours across much of Europe and North America. The sport encourages young people to play football on the streets in a community setting, in turn developing their football abilities as well as social skills.

“For an organization like MOTG, these events go a long way in promoting the sport we love and connecting with fans the world over,” says Darrell Bell, CEO International Business Development, MOTG.  “Our partnership with Samsung for the Samsung MOTG Freestyle World Championship has really proven successful as we share many of the same values of creativity, style and a passion for excellence.”

Once again, Samsung takes its sports sponsorship strategy and ownership of the sports platform a step further, creating new and engaging experiences that meet the passion and interests of the youth today.
