It’s that hotly anticipated time of year when Hollywood’s royalty grace the red carpet of the 87th Oscars. All eyes will be glued to the screen to see not only who goes home with an statuette, but more importantly, who wore what. They will be all glitzed up in avant-garde gowns and truly trendy tuxes, and we’ll be comparing their looks the whole time.
Our Arab A-listers don’t have quite the cachet of the Academy Awards, but Lebanon did bring us a similar star-studded affair in the form of the Murex d'Or awards beginning back in 2000.
When our artists cross the crimson carpet, it’s not just their style that gives us deja vu (although many Western artists wear designs from Dubai or Lebanon), but their faces also appear to have been cloned. Lebanon loves it some plastic surgery just as much as Hollywood, so perhaps they all just have the same French noses, Angelina-Jolie lips and Botox-injected foreheads thanks to good ol’ Mr. Plastic Surgeon.
Al Bawaba has decided to take an Arab twist on the prestigious Academy Awards by shining the spotlight on our very own Middle Eastern stars and their Western counterparts. Our guess is that these household names were actually just separated at birth.
