23rd Gulf Cup: UAE Beat Oman 1-0

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) earned three points after beating rival Oman 1-0 in the opening match of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup, which was held at Jaber International Stadium on Friday.

Ali Mabkhoot scored UAE's sole goal from the penalty spot in minute 27.

Oman began the game pressing for an early goal but their attacks did not materialize.

The UAE and Oman met for 15 times during the Gulf Cups. UAE won 10 times while Oman won three matches. They drew twice.

UAE won the Gulf Cup in 2007 and 2013, while Oman won it once in 2009.
