Bahraini runner, Hajer Al Umairi has made a personal achievement by qualifying to the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 after winning the 100-meter race at the Bulgarian athletic meeting. She clocked in 11.28 fraction of second en route to a deserved victory, sealing a well-earned berth in the next Olympics.

On this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Athletics Association, expressed his utmost delight at the qualification of Hajer Al Umairi, which takes the growing number of Bahraini athletes who will participate in the next Olympics to a total of 34.

"This is clear indication of the massive development made by the athletes in the Kingdom of Bahrain and this is thanks to the unwavering support of the wise leadership of the Kingdom and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee," HH Shaikh Khalid noted.

HH Shaikh Khalid hailed the outstanding performance of Hajer Al Umairi in Bulgaria, and noted that the increasing number of the Bahraini athletes taking part in the international event adds to the series of achievements made in the "mother of all sports".

"The advancement of Hajer is because of her sincere and immense efforts and also her keenness to well-represent the Kingdom of Bahrain," HH Shaikh Khalid pointed out, expressing his best wishes to her to succeed in her debut in the Olympics.

"The Bahrain Athletic Association has been keen to provide all kinds of support to Hajer Al Umairi in order to allow her to perform to her highest potential and achieve the best results," HH Shaikh Khalid explained.

Hajer Al Umairi expressed her maximum happiness at her progress to the Olympics, stating that this achievement is an outcome of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa's constant backing to all runners and his encouragement to them.

"Qualifying for the Olympics is a source of honour and pride. I am very keen to continue raising high, the flag of our beloved Kingdom of Bahrain."
