After weeks of behind-the-scenes talks, Barcelona have agreed to sign Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan from Manchester United, with an option to buy. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the move with his signature phrase, “here we go.”
Medicals Scheduled, Official Unveiling Set for Tuesday
According to reports from "Mundo Deportivo" and "SPORT", Rashford is expected to arrive in Barcelona within the next 24 to 48 hours. The England international will undergo medical tests either Sunday or Monday, with his official presentation set for Tuesday.
Rashford will then join the squad for their pre-season tour in Asia, which starts on Thursday.
Barcelona to Pay Full Wages – After 30% Salary Cut
Barcelona will cover all of Rashford’s wages during the loan period, but the player has agreed to a 30% pay cut to make the move possible. This reduction brings his annual salary down from €18 million to around €12.6 million, easing the financial burden on the Catalan club.
€35M Buy Option Included
The loan agreement includes a purchase option set at €35 million, which can be activated in summer 2026. For a player with Rashford’s experience, it’s viewed as a smart move if he performs well in La Liga.
Not Barça’s First Choice, But a Strategic Signing
It’s important to note that Rashford wasn’t Barcelona’s first choice. The club initially wanted to sign Nico Williams or Luis Díaz, but after missing out on both, they turned their attention to the 27-year-old forward.
