Published November 26th, 2013 - 01:48 GMT

The first time these two clubs met in the group stage saw Basel come from behind at Stamford Bridge to defeat Chelsea and prove the shock of the opening round.

However, since their opening victory Basel have been on the down turn in European form while the Blues have soared to three straight victories.

Chelsea secured an impressive three points this weekend in their match with West Ham United to jump to the top three of the English Premier League.

For the Blues a victory over FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League will guarantee their qualification for the knockout stages and cap off a great few days of action for Jose Mourinho's men.

David Luiz is still looking a doubt for the match as is Ashley Cole despite the Englishman being declared fit for action.

Basel have their strongest side ready and available and need all three points against the Blues once again if their are going to get back in contention for a place in the next round.

Basel XI: Sommer; Voser, Ivanov, Schar, Xhaka; Frei, Die; Salah, Delgado, Stocker; Streller.

Chelsea XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Mikel; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Eto'o.
