Three Egyptian track and field athletes have qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, with the most recent addition being that of Hassan Abdel Gawad.

Ehab Abdel Rahman and Mostafa El Gamal have qualified for the game held in Brazil next August, competing in the javelin throw and hammer throw respectively.

Hassan Abdel Gawad qualified for the games with the record setting mark of 78.35 meters in the hammer throw at the International Association of Athletics Federations’ qualifying tournament in Potchefstroom, South.

Waleed Atta, the president of the Egyptian Athletics Federation, expressed confidence that the players’ ability would help to bring a medal to Egypt in the upcoming Olympic games.
