Roma won 5-3 at Chievo with braces from Stephan El Shaarawy and Mohamed Salah Saturday to keep the pressure on Serie A leaders Juventus in the penultimate weekend of the Italian season.
However, Juventus remain a point clear of second-placed Roma and can clinch a record sixth straight title by beating third-last visitors Crotone Sunday.
El Shaarawy and Salah each equalized for Roma in the first half after goals by Lucas Castro and Roberto Inglese. El Shaarawy then struck in the 58th after a deft control off Kevin Strootman and Salah found the right corner being set up by league top scorer Edin Dzeko on 76.
Dzeko closed the rout for the Giallorossi with a fast drive to tally his 28th league goal before giving way to veteran icon Francesco Totti with four minutes left. Inglese then netted his second for a late consolation.
Roma are four points clear of third-place Napoli, who play later at home to Fiorentina. The Romans and Neapolitans are qualified for the Champions League and vie to avoid third place, which requires a play-off round to access the elite tournament.
