Egypt's Mohamed El Shorbagy is enjoying his second lease of life, so to speak, and is eyeing Pakistan legend Jansher Khan's record and join the pantheon of all-time greats.

El Shorbagy had suffered a burn out following a hectic schedule a few years ago but the world No.1 is now clearly back to being his best and enjoying every moment of it.

And after wrapping up his fourth World Series title this season at the ATCO PSA Dubai World Series Finals at the Emirates Golf Club, the 33rd of his career in 50 PSA finals, El Shorbagy said there is more to come.

"Ending the season on a high is great. But it is never the main goal. This is just another step towards achieving the ultimate goal, hopefully at the end of my career," said El Shorbagy.

The 27-year-old is within touching distance of Egyptian legend Amr Shabana's record of 33 months as world No.1. El Shorbagy has been world No.1 for 31 months.

And the world champion is looking to climb the ladder and perhaps even top Jansher Khan's record of an astonishing 97 months at the top.

El Shorbagy currently sits sixth behind Shabana, Australia's Geoff Hunt (59 months), England's Peter Nicol (60) and Jahanghir Khan (94).

"I'm still 27 and hopefully, I still have a few more years in this sport. There are many records I want to break and right now and I'm focusing on staying World No. 1 for as long as I can.

"This is my 31st month as world No. 1 and Shabana was 33, so I'm going to pass that. The next one will be Geoff Hunt, Peter Nicol and I want to get that. And after I get that it will be Jansher and Jahanghir, so let's see," he said.
