FIFA admits venues still not ready ahead of 2014 World Cup: Report

FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke has admitted that infrastructure for the 2014 World Cup may not be totally ready for the beginning of the tournament.

Stadiums in Porto Alegre and Sau Paulo are still under construction and at risk of being incomplete.

According to the BBC, Valcke said that the venues may not be ready as there is still lot of work to do in two stadiums although he insisted that the fixtures will not be postponed, adding that the training camps and fields are all set for the tournament.

The construction work in Sau Paulo's Arena Corinthians, hosting the opening match, stopped indefinitely following the demise of a construction worker, the report added. (ANI)
