The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has elected four representatives, including one woman, to fill out its FIFA council slots.
Bangladesh's Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, the only Asian woman to win a seat in the FIFA council, China's Zhang Jian, South Korea's Chung Mong and the Philippines' Mariano Araneta were all elected on Monday as members of the FIFA council, with a mandate that runs until 2019.
Moreover, AFC Chairman Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa congratulated the four officials, saying that he was sanguine that Asian football will reach new heights.
