The Gulf Cup Federation (GCF) has commended Kuwait's significant role in sports and its effective contribution to the development of Gulf football.
Kuwait is a key element in the march of Gulf sports in general, particularly in football, as it holds the record for the most wins in the Gulf Cup of Nations' tournaments, GCF noted in a statement on Tuesday.
GCF made its remarks following the first meeting of its emergency committee regarding granting Kuwait a timeline to inform the committee about its ability, depending on lifting its suspension by FIFA, to participate in the 23rd edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations' tournament, slated for December in Doha, Qatar.
Kuwait's presence in the Gulf football tournaments certainly enhances the quality of competitions, the federation noted, expressing full confidence in the return of Kuwaiti football to the international arenas soon, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
