Frank Lampard has prompted Chelsea to renew talks about a new contract, after he revealed that he wants to finish his career at the Stampford Bridge.

Lampard, 34, who would captain England in the friendly against Italy in Berne this evening, is unsure whether he can carry on playing internationally until the next World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

"We spoke once last season and it was a case of them coming back. I would like to end my career there. It's a bit like it is with England really. I feel I can play at the top level for a good few more years, but it's whether the club feel the same," the Daily Express quoted Lampard, as saying.

Lampard, whose current deal expires next summer, is keen to play a part in the revolution being wrought at Stamford Bridge by Roman Abramovich, following last May's victory in the Champions League, with new signings like Eden Hazard signalling the Russian owner's fresh ambitions.

"I know there are a lot of changes at Chelsea. I'd love to be involved. The youth coming into the squad this year has really freshened up our team. But it's a club decision to come and sit down with me," he said.

"They used to sit down with me three years before the end of my contract. Now I'm waiting," he added. (ANI)
