Liverpool v Arsenal: Projected lineups in crucial Anfield clash
Liverpool v Arsenal: Projected lineups in crucial Anfield clash

In what is the ultimate showdown of the coming weekend, Liverpool and Arsenal play for what can only be called a statement of intent on the start of a crucial February and March.

Both sides will compete against the frustration of multiple injuries as well as Mathieu Flamini's suspension for the Gunners.

Jack Wilshere could return from injury for Arsenal but it is certain to be a game time decision with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still believed in line for another run-out after his brace last weekend.

Liverpool are expected to maintain the same first team that defeated Everton and drew with West Brom this past week with defensive injuries picking the back line for Brendan Rodgers and a lack of improved depth maintaining the same outfield players as well.

The last ten matches between the two have seen Arsenal dominate the Reds with a record of six wins, three draws and only one loss to Liverpool.

Four of the ten matches have been played at Anfield with the Reds failing to win at home and losing three out of the four times.

The match is likely to rest on Liverpool finding a way to soak up Arsenal's pressure, much like they did against Everton and sucker punch the Gunners on the counter attack.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet: Flannagan, Skrtel, Toure, Cissokho; Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho; Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez.

Arsenal XI: Szczesney: Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla; Giroud.
