Zamalek’s new Swiss coach Christian Gross has praised the Cairo-based club board expressing confidence they will have 'success in winning championships'.

"Zamalek management is very professional. They provide all we ask for and this is a real push to succeed and win the championship," the 63-year-old newly appointed manager stated ontheir official website late on Monday.

Zamalek, who have had a cycle of different coaches over the last few seasons, won the Egypt Cup after finishing the Egyptian Premier League in the fourth place with 61 points, 27 behind winners Ahly, whom they are to meet in the Super Cup.

"Just like in chess, in football, we want to win our games. I will wait until I know my full squad, but from the very beginning I say to the players — we play to win. From what I saw, football here is very aggressive and physical and emotional. We have to channel our energy and control our emotions in our hands," he explained.

"Players know already that I am asking a lot. Football is all about confidence, trust and emotions. We need to show that we do our best to accomplish the target, which is winning championship," he added.

The veteran manager, whose technical experience began in 1988, is said to be the highest paid coach in the Egyptian competition. His contract is funded by the head of the Saudi General Authority of Sport Turki Al-Sheikh.

Al-Sheikh also invests in Pyramids Club, previously known as Assiouty Sports, who are splashing cash to target star players and coaches. Mansour has said that Zamalek are in a partnership with Pyramids Club.
