An inquiry report of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) had proposed to blacklist Pakistan Wrestling Federation and its top office bearers responsible for victimising a Pakistani wrestler who managed to win two medals in Commonwealth Wrestling Championship Australia 2011.
Mohammad Umer, a Gujranwala based wrestler participated in Commonwealth Wrestling Championship and Austria Cup of Wrestling held in Australian city Melbourne in 2011 on his personal behalf and won four medals for Pakistan including gold, a silver and two brown medals.
But the Pakistan Wrestling Federation couldn't digest the victory of two medals for Pakistan and wrote to the Commonwealth Wrestling Association to suspend these medals for Umer Pehlwan and remove his and Pakistan's name from results of championship.
The association later removed the name of Pakistan from results and suspended the medals following the letter of Pakistan Wrestling Federation.
However, an inquiry report conducted in this regard had proposed to blacklist the Pakistan Wrestling Federation and dismiss its key office bearer for illegally intervening and managing suspension of medals for Pakistan.
The sources said that the inquiry report had proposed to direct Wrestling Federation to write again to Fila to restore the medals and the name of Pakistan in results of wrestling championship 2011.
The inquiry officer also proposed the government to announce award for Umer Pehlwan for winning four medals for the country along with the tour expenditures.
According to the rules of Commonwealth Wrestling Association (CWA), any one could participate individually in championship on behalf of his country if no player was nominated by the same country for championship.
It may be mention here that Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Umer had lodged an application with Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination in which he stated that he had participated in championship individually as no any other was nominated by Pakistan for the games.
He had met all the expenditure to participate in the games at his own but the wrestling federation had victimized him by writing to association for cancelation of his medals that were purely owned by Pakistan.
This was a strange incident that the Secretary Wrestling Federation activated to remove the name of Pakistan from championship results of 2011.
Mohammad Umer said that the federation never kept in view his old performance by taking such steps. He said that he had been National Champion for twenty years and won a number of medals for Pakistan including four gold medals in South Asian games and five medals in Commonwealth Wrestling.
He said President Pakistan Wrestling Federation Chaudhry Asghar had not only victimized him but also deprived Pakistan from two international medals.
He said many other players also participated in the championship individually and their respective countries encouraged them.
The federal minister had directed to probe the matter and Deputy Director General Pakistan Sports Board Shahid Islam was assigned the task in this regard.
Mohammad Umer Wrestler had also filed a petition with Islamabad High Court (IHC) in this regard.
