Khouma Babacar scored a brace for Fiorentina in their 3-1 win at Sassuolo in Saturday's opening game of the Serie A weekend.

Senegal striker Babacar set up newcomer Mohamed Salah on the half hour for his first goal since transferring on loan from Chelsea in early February.

The Egyptian midfielder returned the favour two minutes later and saw Babacar get the better of Paolo Cannavaro to beat Andrea Consigli, who was stunned again on 62 by the striker's flick.

Domenico Berardi then nodded home a consolation goal after hitting the post late in the first half.

Fiorentina are fourth on 38 points, four adrift of Napoli, who welcome Palermo in late action. Sassuolo are level on 29 points with 10th-place Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Leaders Juventus (53) close the 23rd round late Sunday at Cesena after second-place Roma (46) take on Parma.
