Aguero believes Man City are on the right track for sucess

Manchester City may have lost their Champions League battle against Real Madrid, but the match proves they are on the right road to silverware success - at least according to Sergio Aguero.

The Blues were 2-1 up at the Bernabeu and looking good for a great win at the home of the European giants. That was until two last-gasp goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo netted the points for the hosts.

The result already leaves City playing catch-up in a tough group that includes German champions Borussia Dortmund and Dutch heavyweights Ajax. However, rather than be depressed at Tuesday night’s 3-2 defeat, Aguero claims the fact they came so close to a shock result in the Spanish capital shows more titles are just around the corner for the Premier League champions.

The Argentine tweeted: “I feel comfortable and appreciated in @MCFC - it’s a project I feel involved in. We want more titles and we’ll get them!”

The man who scored 30 goals for City last season was the focus of much transfer speculation over the summer and he revealed his commitment to the Blues cause by adding: “Just to make it clear - I’m very happy to be in @MCFC. It’s the best decision I could have taken.”

But while Aguero’s optimistic, the fact remains that City deserved to get more out of the match and that they left Madrid empty-handed leaves them with a tough task to qualify in the hardest group.

And that’s not lost on manager Roberto Mancini.

“I think other teams will lose [at the Bernabeu],” he said. “Now we have five games and it is important we beat Dortmund next game at home.

“We know it will be difficult playing against a top team but this year we want to go through.” City failed to get beyond the group stage in their first Champions League campaign last year, losing out to Bayern Munich and Napoli. And the side’s skipper, like Aguero, is confident all will be well this time round.

Captain Vincent Kompany tweeted: “This game will give us the desire to improve again. Eventually we will get there.”
