The Denver Broncos stifled the high-scoring Carolina offense and capitalized on critical fumbles by Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to win 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night.
The Broncos took a 13-7 lead into halftime at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, after capitalizing on a fumble on his own 4-yard-line by Newton, named as the most valuable player in the NFL this season. The loose ball was smothered in the end zone by Denver defensive end Malik Jackson for the Broncos' only first-half touchdown.
The two teams traded second-half field goals, leaving Denver up 16-10 when Carolina took possession on their own 24-yard-line with 4:28 to play. Two plays later, Newton fumbled again on a sack, with the Broncos recovering the loose ball on the 4-yard-line.
Burning the clock, Denver scored on their third short running play and executed a two-point conversion to seal the victory.
