Palestinian forward Tamer Seyman (L) vies for the ball with Algerian Zinedine Ferhat (C) during a friendly match between the Palestinian and Algerian Olympic football teams at the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 stadium in Algiers on February 17, 2016.

The Algerian U23 football team suffered an unexpected loss (1-0) against its Palestinian counterpart at the 5th July stadium (Algiers) on Wednesday, in a friendly game in preparation of both team' upcoming deadlines.

The Algerian team got off to a flying start, endangering the opposing team from the first minute of play. This has prompted the Palestinians to close ranks and tighten their defence.

After cooling their Algerian counterparts' enthusiasm, the players of the Palestinian team began to come out of their shell with fast counter-attacks as soon as they recover the ball.

The Palestinian team scored at the 19th minute, thanks to Pablo Bravo, following a back pass of Ahmed Abu-Nahia.

The Fennecs tried to get out of their zone, but were blocked by the Palestinians' double defensive enclosure.

The threat was especially Palestinian, particularly by Sameh Maraaba, who failed to open the score twice right before the end of the first half.

Missing many occasions, the Algerians ended up conceding a goal, just after the hour mark, scored by the very active Abu-Nahia.

The game then ended on a narrow defeat of the Algerian team (1-0) which will probably serve as a lesson, to reconsider themselves, in anticipation of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
