Lebanese singer Pascal Mashalaani will postpone the release of her latest music video “Am Ithadidni” (Are you threatening me?), which she recently filmed.
Pascal said that she is mourning the lives lost in Egypt as a result of the current uprising of the people against the government and so decided to postpone the release.
Mass popular protests against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak since 25 January may usher in a new leadership in Cairo.
The unrest over the last two weeks has seen fierce clashes with police, and battles between protesters and Mubarak supporters.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) researchers say they have confirmed the deaths of 297 people since 28 January, based on a count from eight hospitals in the cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez. No comprehensive death toll has been given by the Egyptian government.
Pascal also announced that she has postponed all entertainment activities until conditions in Egypt return to normal.
“I am following events in Egypt by the minute,” she said.
According to the internet website, the singer said that she is saddened by the status of Egypt, especially since she feels a strong bond with the people of Egypt who have shown her respect and admiration. She hopes that disputes are resolved and all the bloodshed ends, said Pascal.
