Egyptian folk singer Shabaan Abd Al Rahim has released a new song titled “25 Midan Al Tahrir” (25 Tahrir Square). The song criticizes the bloody events taking place in Egypt since mass popular protests against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak erupted 25 January, demanding new leadership.

Al Rahim, usually outspoken, had kept silent regarding the protests until this point.

The song is written by poet Islam Khaleel and features a detailed analysis of the events, corruption and disputes inside Egypt. The song also talks about the propaganda put forth by the media in their coverage of the protests.
