The Wave, Muscat has announced the expansion of its role in the 40/40 Scholarship Fund by increasing the number of hospitality student scholarships from four to fifteen. The pioneering educational initiative comes in partnership with the British Scholarships for Oman (BSO) and the National Hospitality Institute (NHI).

The scholarships consist of an 18 month diploma in Hospitality Management at NHI complemented by a 6 month internship at a property of Kempinski Hotels or with Dubai Golf, the official operator of the 18-hole PGA Links Golf Course designed by the legendary Greg Norman.

Earlier this year, the fifteen hospitality students visited The Wave, Muscat as part of their curriculum. The students were taken on a guided tour of the Project by senior officials to gain key insights and information about their future roles in one of Oman’s most highly anticipated real estate and tourism developments.

Abdulla Al Shidi, Deputy CEO of The Wave, Muscat said, “The expansion of the 40/40 initiative is a testament to the success of the Fund as we grow its capacity and acquire additional Omani talents into this highly comprehensive educational platform. Our close partnership with BSO and NHI has provided us with access to some of the nation’s most promising hoteliers and underscores our commitment to quality learning, training and empowerment by offering the very finest in world-class hospitality management.  The students will be actively trained to begin an exciting career at the Kempinski The Wave, Muscat Hotel and Hotel Apartments and our championship Golf Course.”

Al Shidi added, “The students visit to The Wave, Muscat was a great opportunity for them to witness the progress of the Golf Course and development of the hotels. Over the course of their training, students will also be attending a diverse series of events at our Project to broaden their horizons and gain first-hand experience about the various facets of lifestyle and tourism.”

Ulrich Eckhardt, President Middle East and Africa for Kempinski Hotels said, “Our most important and most difficult job in managing hotels is finding and retaining good talents especially locally in destinations where we operate hotels outside Europe. Having the chance to educate and train selected talents then groom them to become successful team members within the upcoming hotel is a priceless opportunity and, if proven successful, shall become a usual procedure. Therefore, it is our pleasure to collaborate with The Wave, Muscat in this endeavor.”

To date, designs for the Kempinski The Wave, Muscat Hotel and Hotel Apartments have been finalized and ground breaking is expected to take place later this year. Boasting 307 rooms and suites in addition to 77 hotel apartments, the property is ideally situated in a magnificent beachfront location and will be equipped with a wide range of facilities and amenities, including various dining options, fully equipped meeting center and a host of recreational options. Upon completion of the Project’s Master Plan, The Wave, Muscat will ultimately be home to four major global hospitality properties, ranging from four to five-star entries. The first two include the Kempinski The Wave, Muscat Hotel and Hotel Apartments and Fairmont The Wave, Muscat Hotel.
