“Dance Cuba” turns up the summer heat at Bahrain Summer Festival 2011
The renowned Dance Cuba ensemble rocked the fully-packed Cultural Hall on Monday night with their audio-visual extravaganza “Fuerza Y Compas” (Strength and Beat), the second stop on the Bahrain Summer Festival 2011 schedule. The one-night-only show, led by its creator Lizt Alfonso, blends flamenco and ballet in an impeccable choreographed dance set to a pulsating background of Afro-Cuban harmonies masterfully played by skilled Cuban musicians.
Now in its third edition, Bahrain Summer Festival 2011 features a dozen shows highlighting the rich heritages of cultures from around the globe, including the Gulf, throughout July. In addition, daily events are held free of charge at the “Nakhool Tent” next to Arad Fort featuring a wide range of family-friendly cultural activities from 5 to 10 pm.
Tickets for the shows held at the Cultural Hall can be obtained from the venue on a first-come first-serve basis, while those held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Conference Center are available at the festival kiosk Bahrain City Center and at the venue the day of the show, space permitting.
