Barney the Dinosaur made a triumphant return to Bahrain. The long-time kid-favorite and “Bahrain Summer” Festival regular took kids of all ages and nationalities on a magical journey in his all-new act, “Barney’s Space Adventures”. Children danced and sang along with Barney and his friends, with many of them attending as part of organized school trips from across the Kingdom. The interactive show, which premiered yesterday (July 6th), will run twice daily at 11 am and 5 pm until the 10th of July at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Conference Center (BIECC) and has a special stand selling exclusive Barney memorabilia .

The show concludes the first week of the festival, which also featured Lebanese vocalist Samar Kammouj and renowned Dance Cuba who played to a fully-packed Cultural Hall on Friday and Monday, respectively. Crowds queued up more than an hour before the shows and the connection between them and the artists on stage was clearly evident.

The second week lineup features a trio of equally diverse shows, starting with “Fan Al Sut” (The Art of Sound) which combines Bahraini folklore group Mohamed bin Faris Band with Kuwaiti group “Fan Al Sut” to showcase the rich musical mosaic of the GCC region of past and present. The show will take place at the Cultural Hall on 11th of July at 8:00 pm.

The performance will be followed by yet another family-friendly show starring Jano Yang performing his brilliant “Gazillion Bubble Show”, which combines his amazing bubble blowing magic with a spectacular laser and light show. The performances will be held twice daily at 5:00 and 8:00 pm from July 14 – 16 at the BIECC.

Capping off the week will be Chen Lo and the Lo Frequency, a New-York-based hip-hop group that’ draws its inspiration from an eclectic mix of sources, including jazz, blues, kwaito, soul, rock & roll, R&B, pop, and afro-beats. The shows will be held on July 15 – 16 at 8:00 pm at the Cultural Hall.

As always, the “Nakhool Tent”, located next to Arad Fort, will be open daily to the public from 5:00 – 10:00 pm. The tent offers a broad range of free educational and entertaining cultural activities. The MoC also coordinated with various hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, and public theme parks to offer a wide variety of promotional packages in conjunction with the festival.

Events held at the Cutural Hall are free and are distributed at the venue the day of the performance on a first-come first-served basis. Shows held at the BIECC are on sale through the festival kiosk in Bahrain City Center or at the venue on the day of the performance, space permitting.
