Barcelona is keen to expand its appeal to the Middle East market. In 2002, Barcelona saw a rise in conference activity of 18 percent over the previous year, in terms of number of delegates. The city received a total of 301,500 visitors associated with the business travel and meetings sector in 2002 and 1,363 events.
“Spain has seen an impressive rate of economic growth which has spawned an increase in demand for meetings and incentive travel” said Sales and Marketing Director for The Stein Group, Borja Ochoa, “We are therefore focusing our efforts in convincing the Middle East market that the country and, more specifically, the Gran Hotel La Florida has a huge potential for the international meetings, events, exhibitions and conferences (MICE) sector.”
The Gran Hotel La Florida is located on Mount Tibidabo with views over the city of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. It has a total of 74 rooms and suites, of which 52 are double rooms and 22 are suites.
