Driss Jettou, Prime Minister of Morocco, and Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Renault, participated in the official inaugural ceremony of the Renault Logan assembly equipment at SOMACA’s plant, with hundreds of guests and Moroccan media representatives.

After looking at the new sheet iron factory, paint and assembly installations which have been assembling Renault Logan since its introduction to the Moroccan market in July, Jettou and Ghosn witnessed the assembly of the 2000th car in the factory. During his visit, Jettou praised the positive policies and the modernization undertaken by the Renault and SOMACA teams to keep up with the growing popularity and sales of Logan in Morocco.

From his side, Ghosn applauded the work accomplished over the past months to ensure a successful launch of the Logan in Morocco, affirming that SOMACA was clearly on the right track towards profitability and growth.

During his first visit to Morocco as president and CEO of Renault, Ghosn met with the Board of Directors and employees of Renault Morocco, and held several meetings with the management of both Renault and SOMACA.

Renault holds 66% of the capital of SOMACA after it purchased in October 27, 2005, the Moroccan government’s share of 12% as per the agreement signed in July 2003.
