ALBAWABA - Chinese media announced the government’s decision of choosing Tesla as its official transportation cars for the first time.

This recent decision highlights the strong relationship between the government of China and Tesla, the American multinational automotive owned by Elon Musk.

The Chinese Jiangsu government confirmed choosing Tesla cars as the new models for the government. The government confirmed choosing the car amid many concerns raised by users as Tesla is considered as a foreign car.

The government stated out that Tesla cars are domestic and not imported as the company owns a factory in Shanghai and manufactured almost 947,000 cars in China back in 2023.

It is worth mentioning that China generates big revenue for the big brand as 25% of Tesla’s revenue came from China in the preceding year.

Tesla might be facing some challenges on the other hand, as the European Commission opposed tariffs on imported electric cars. The tariff will exceed 37% but Tesla requested a special calculation for tariff rates.

Tesla is currently facing a tariff of 20.8% and they are hoping to change the new tariff law.
