Israeli–based CogniTens Ltd. announced the receipt of several orders both for the Optigo 200 portable 3D non-contact measurement systems and first orders for its OptiCell automated 3D non-contact robotic cell for in-production repetitive part measurements.

The orders were received from TSK, the Japanese distributor of CogniTens for its OEM and Tier One customers, and are being supplied during Q1 and Q2 2003. With the installation of these systems on order, the total installation of Optigo systems in Japan will be a few dozen systems, and Optigo plays an increasingly important role in production engineering processes in Japan.

One of the largest car manufacturers in Japan has selected Optigo and OptiCell, after prolonged testing, as a preferred solution for shortening measurement time and improving quality.

Rony Homossany, VP Sales of CogniTens, states: "The automotive industry is realizing that its production processes must undergo major changes in order to shorten time to market, increase quality of parts and processes, and reduce re-work and scrap. Our customers rely more and more upon our Optigo systems for their production engineering processes, and the first delivery of our OptiCell system to Japan forms a major breakthrough in the in-line process control."

CogniTens offers measurement systems for the different measuring needs of the automotive and aerospace industries. The systems allow collection of highly accurate and dense clouds of points, and immediate analysis of the collected data to find deviations from specifications and flaws in tools and parts. Image acquisition is performed in sub-millisecond single exposures preventing measurement errors that can be induced from vibrations, lighting conditions and temperature variations.

CogniTens, has offices in the USA, Europe, and Japan. Amongst its customers are leading automotive and aerospace manufacturers such as BMW, Boeing, Daihatsu, Ford, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Toyota, and Yamaha. — (menareport.com)
