The Head of the Kuwaiti Cooperative Societies Association, Talak Al-Heim, revealed that sales of local cooperative societies totaled 378 million Kuwaiti Dinars ($1.2 billion) in 2001. Al-Heim added that 19 percent of these sales were national products, reported Al-Ittihad . Addressing the Second Kuwaiti Manufacturers Conference, Al-Heim asserted that local cooperative societies play a key-role in supporting national production through a range of diversified mechanisms.
