Algeria's Sonatrach national oil and gas company announced Monday the discovery of a new gas deposit in Timimoun basin in the large Western erg, which is first deposit in the area.
According to APS, the well is located in the perimeter of Hassi Mouina, some 280 kilometers south-east Bechar and 160 kilometers North-east Timimoun, Sonatrach said in an official statement, adding that it is the first drilling made in this area of the Algerian south-west.
The tests carried out produced, according to the same source, a flow of 170,000 cubic meters (m3) per day, a quantity which Sonatrach experts consider as being reasonably "important." (menareport.com)
