The Omnix Group and the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone plan to establish a three billion Emirati dirham ($816 million) business oriented complex in Dubai. With the date of completion set for May 2006, Dubai Pearl would be the largest privately owned project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The facility will be located in the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone and will extend toward Palm Island. According to the Omnix Group, the developers of the project, the complex will serve modern-day conference, business, leisure and residential requirements.
Dubai Pearl's community focus will be reflected in various aspects of the project, which will include a theatre and an opera house. The latter, with a capacity of around 1,800 seats will be the biggest opera house in the region.
Visiting business people and tourists will have a choice of more than 1,500 rooms in a five-star and two four-star hotels, each tailored to specific market segments. The 240-metre-high, 720-room five star hotel will be a smart business hotel managed by the famous Swiss Movenpick Group.
There will also be in excess of 2,000 residential units offering apartments to suit a wide range of budgets. All residential units will be plugged into a broadband network that offers video-on-demand, interactive TV and high speed Internet. More than 1.2 million square feet of commercial property will also be incorporated into the design of Dubai Pearl. — (menareport.com)
