ALBAWABA – Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, announced the launch of construction for the first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport.
First air taxi station in Dubai
The first phase of construction for Dubai’s air taxi station will include four landing locations, including Dubai International Airport, Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. The station is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026.
"We commenced construction on Dubai’s first aerial taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport. Spanning 3,100 sqm, the facility will have the capacity to handle 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. The initial phase will feature stations in Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah, with services launching in 2026. Dubai continues to shape the future of global mobility with its steadfast commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability," Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum posted on X.

It is worth mentioning that the new air taxi station will be constructed in collaboration Skysports, a British provider and operator of eVTOL drones for cargo delivery, survey, and monitoring. The station will include take-off and landing zones, electric charging facilities, a dedicated passenger area, and enhanced security measures.
Additionally, Dubai’s air taxi station is expected to significantly alleviate the city's traffic congestion. Experts predict it will reduce travel time from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah to just 10 to 12 minutes, down from 45 minutes during peak times.
