Egypt, Tunisia to boost economic cooperation

Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif has recently paid a two-day visit to Tunisia during which he led a delegation to the meetings of the Egyptian- Tunisian Joint Committee. During his recent visit to Tunisia, Nazif reviewed with his Tunisian counterpart Mohammed Ghannouchi a number of issues on bolstering economic and trade ties in a bid to help both countries face challenges and international economic blocs.

 

At a meeting with Egyptian and Tunisian businessmen, Nazif posted the attendants on recent measures taken by the Egyptian government to facilitate investment luring plans including incentives such as tax and customs tariff cuts. Nazif announced that the Tunisian and Egyptian ministers of trade would hold a meeting within days to review obstacles and challenges impeding trade exchange increase and means to overcome them.

 

For his part, the Tunisian premier stressed the need for Egyptian and Tunisian businessmen to join forces in constructing mega projects that could compete with similar ones abroad. He cited textile industries and power generation as well as information technology as promising domains for joint ventures between Egyptian and Tunisian investors.
