ALBAWABA - A group of students from Munich Technical University has rewritten the record books with their latest electric vehicle creation.

Their creation, aptly named Muc22, was designed with an unwavering focus on efficiency. In a rigorous six-day test conducted at Munich Airport, it accomplished a truly astonishing feat, covering an incredible 2,574 kilometers (approximately 1,600 miles) on a single charge, all with a modest 15.5 kWh battery capacity.

The Muc22 showcases a set of remarkable features. Notably, this aerodynamic electric vehicle boasts a maximum speed of a mere 42 km/h and weighs a feather-light 170 kg, excluding the driver.

Its body has been meticulously engineered for optimal aerodynamics, incorporating enclosed rear wheels and a friction coefficient of just 0.159. While the initial unveiling in 2022 featured a pair of 440 W electric motors, the Muc22 now operates with only 400 W.

It's worth noting that this 400 W figure is an astounding 268 times less powerful than the least potent electric vehicle available on the market, the Mazda MX-30.

Impressively, the previous record of 1,609 km was surpassed in just four days, and the battery still retained charge, allowing the vehicle to continue its journey.

An Astounding Accomplishment: The Muc22 achieved final distances that surpassed the existing record by a staggering 60%, consuming a mere 0.6 kWh/100 km of electrical energy.

To provide context, today's most efficient electric vehicles, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Lucid Air, have versions that consume 14.8 kWh/100 km of electrical energy.

It is anticipated that these energy consumption levels may further decrease in standard production vehicles. The undeniable success of the students from Munich Technical University underscores their commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology. Their next aspiration? To surpass the remarkable benchmark set by the Muc22.
