ALBAWABA – Experts urged employees in the UAE to learn new skills, as artificial intelligence (AI) is set to take over many jobs.
AI is replacing human jobs
According to experts in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), generative AI, legacy technologies, robotic process automation (RPA), and machine learning have strong potential to take over tasks in jobs related to data analysis, synthesis, content generation, customer support, and software development.
Employers in the UAE are increasingly seeking employees with strong digital skills. However, the ability of AI to perform these tasks poses a potential threat to workers.
Ravin Jesuthasan, global leader of Mercer’s Transformation Services business, said: “At the same time, demand for AI specialists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers is growing rapidly, as companies seek talent to build, manage, and improve AI systems. Employers in the UAE are increasingly looking for candidates with strong digital skills, including social media skills, the ability to navigate online tools and platforms, and the skills to work with generative AI and large language models.”
The UAE Ministry of Economy recently issued a report stating a 90% growth in the use of AI-based tools by companies and corporations since 2022. Employers are increasingly seeking advanced solutions and technologies.

Companies and employees must understand the impact of artificial intelligence. Employers should support employees with new training courses and skill development, while also understanding the overall cost and implications of relying on AI tools and solutions.
“So, while we will likely see AI impacting jobs that involve routine tasks that are easier to automate, we’re also likely to see a transformation in the types of new roles that the UAE is actively recruiting for, accompanied by a positive impact on productivity and creativity,” Jesuthasan added.
