Goods from India may attain a major share in the Iraqi market in the next two years. There has been a steady demand for Indian electrical, textile and food items in that country, the Economic Times.
Iraq's charge-d'-affairs to India Muayad S Hussain said "Indian goods may form a major share of Iraq's market in the next two years, provided Indian companies grab the opportunity right on time. At present, goods from China and our neighbouring Gulf countries are ruling over the Iraqi market."
According to the newspaper, Indian goods that are currently gaining ground in Iraq include auto and watch spare-parts, electrical fittings, ceiling fans, meat, paper and stationery items, construction material, cement, marble, pharmaceutical items, garments and textiles, ice factory machinery, stainless steel utensils.
