The Lebanese government has placed its southern border with Israel on high alert against the possible infiltration of mad cow disease, reported NNA. The precautionary measure was taken following reports from the International Epidemics Bureau that there had been cases of mad cow disease in the Golan Heights.
The first case of mad cow disease was discovered in Israel last week after tests came back positive for bovine spongiform encephalopathy on a dairy cow that died on a communal farm on the Golan Heights. The offspring of the infected cow and three other cows in the herd were slaughtered and destroyed, said the Ministry of Agriculture. — (menareport.com)
