Maritime traffic in Algerian ports remained stable last month with 249 ships, including 237 merchant ones, compared to 248 in May 2003, according to the data provided by Algiers port company.
The volume of tonnage was up 10.98%, moving from 2.129 million barrels in May 2003 to 2.362 millions this year. The average occupancy rate moved from 2,678 to 3,154 tons per ship (up 17.78%), according to the same source.
The traffic of goods went up by 15.17% in the same period with a volume of 835,748 tons against 725,641 tons in May 2003. The traffic of containers was also up 21.59%, moving from 28,432 to 34,570 units. (menareport.com)
