The UK-based Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), a popular Arabic free-to-air channel, finalized negotiations with Arab Digital Distribution (ADD), a regional pay-TV platform, to encrypt MBC exclusively on the Al Awael Arabic bouquet.
According to John Tydeman, CEO of ADD, MBC will become encrypted exclusively on the Al Awael bouquet as of the first week of May and this is part of MBC’s strategy to consolidate and boost its marketing strategy via the regional pay-TV platform.
"MBC and Al Awael complement each other perfectly. Al Awael is an ideal platform for MBC, and MBC is a full-service Arabic network that offers a variety of programs that cater to the global Arab audience," commented Ali Al-Hedeithy, director general of MBC.
Building on the Arab Radio & Television (ART) news and entertainment channels, the recently launched Al Awael mainly targets the GCC markets, the Levant and Egypt, offering thirty Arabic and English language family channels, with a predominance of Arabic Entertainment. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
