ALBAWABA – Meta, the American multinational technology company formerly known as Facebook, announced that it will lay off approximately 3,000 employees next week.
Meta layoffs employees
Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, announced the layoff of approximately 3,000 employees. The company sent internal emails to its staff last week, informing them that 5% of the company’s 72,000 employees will be laid off next week.
Janelle Gale, Head of People at Meta, stated that the layoffs were based on performance-related decisions. Gale added that employees would be notified on Monday through both their personal and work emails.
Upon receiving the email, Meta's US employees will be informed of their termination and compensation packages, and their access to the company’s platform and database will be revoked.

"For teams that have a teammate or manager exit on Monday, I understand this might be a difficult day, and there could be some disruption and short-term impacts on your day to day work. Managers might not yet have all the answers to your questions, but will be partnering with their leaders and working through these changes with you to provide additional clarity," Gale stated.
The company will allow employees to work from home on Monday if they feel the need to, but Meta has stated that the office will remain open as usual.
Notably, the company recently followed a hybrid work system, allowing employees to work three days from the office and two days from home.
It is worth noting that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Meta, previously stated last month that the company would lay off a number of its employees based on performance management.
