ALBAWABA – Meta, the American multinational technology company, has announced the launch of advertisements on Threads, an app from Instagram where users can view and share public conversations.
Meta launches ads on Threads
Meta has announced that it is testing ads on its Threads app in the United States and China during the initial phase. Notably, Threads currently has over 300 million monthly active users, and the ads will target a few select brands in the first phase.
According to the company, ad images will appear in the Threads home feed when early testing begins. Meta will monitor the ad launch on a small scale before rolling it out more broadly.

Jasmine Enberg, principal analyst at Emarketer, a subscription-based market research company, said: “The launch of Threads ads just weeks after Meta's content moderation makeover will raise advertiser eyebrows. But the volatility at TikTok is spurring brands to seek alternatives, and Meta isn't going to pass up an opportunity to throw Threads into the mix.”
Additionally, Meta will introduce an inventory ads filter based on artificial intelligence (AI), which will help companies control the organic content of their ads.
It is worth noting that Threads was launched in 2023 by Meta to compete with X, formerly Twitter. Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated that the company is investing about $65 billion to develop AI infrastructure across all of Meta's platforms.
