Mobily’s data and voice services had a positive impact on the dramatic increase in its profits for the third quarter of 2009, said Mobily’s Chief Marketing Officer David Murpy.

He believes that Mobily’s strategic plan of acquiring of 99% of Bayanat Al-Ola, expanding WiMax coverage and mobile broadband reflected positively on the company’s profits. On Monday, Mobily posted a higher-than-expected rise in net profits. In a statement, the company attributed the 50% jump in profits to the rising number of its more post-paid voice and broadband subscribers.

The Kingdom's second-largest mobile service operator made a record 807 million riyals ($215.2 million) in the three months through Sept. 30, which is one and a half times greater than the 539 million riyals it made in the same period a year earlier. “Among our other profit drivers is our Mobily Connect service, which allows instantaneous high-speed internet access wherever you are,” said Murphy. “It continues to not only exceed our expectations and those of the market, but also sets new benchmarks for growth and usage.”

Murphy also hailed the Raqi bundle, which was designed for Mobily’s VIP subscribers with a very attractive array of premium services. “Demand for Raqi is proving day-by-day that this VIP experience proposition has a place among our other significant profit drivers. It addresses a very dynamic segment of customers, not only with telecom services, but also with a concierge service that allows them to free up more of their time for business or quality time with their families,” Mobily’s CMO said.

“Our Raqi customers continue to surprise us with stories of how our Raqi partner Quintessentially provided concierge services that changed possible nightmare situations like finding hard to obtain travel reservations, or moving from one city or another, into smooth experiences.”

According to Murphy , Mobily will continue to invest to guarantee that the company customers will have access to the fastest internet access speeds.
