ALBAWABA - Elon Musk's AI company xAI has launched Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini in beta on the X social network. Grok-2 is a significant improvement over the previous Grok-1.5 model, featuring frontier capabilities in chat, coding, and reasoning.
The company has also introduced Grok-2 mini, a smaller but capable version of the Grok-2 model.
The Grok-2 models are currently only available to Premium and Premium+ users on X. xAI noted that they plan to deploy Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini in AI-driven features on X, including improved search capabilities, post analytics, and reply functions.
Notably, the Grok-2 model has the ability to generate images, though there are concerns about the lack of guardrails around creating images of political figures. With the U.S. presidential election around the corner, the company will likely face pressure to add limits on these image-generation features.
xAI also stated that they plan to make both Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini available to developers through their enterprise API later this month.
